In order to educate the Indonesian people who are running MSME businesses regarding the export and import of goods, Bea Cukai held UMKM WEEK 2023. Exporting goods abroad has been a big scourge for the community, especially those who have MSME businesses. So far, export activities can only be carried out by large companies, now it can be done by individuals as well. MSMEs that have great potential now do not need to be afraid and worried if they get customers from abroad.
The event began with the simultaneous singing of the Indonesia Raya song by the participants and staff. Then the event continued with remarks from the Head of the DGCE Regional Office of Central Java and D.I. Yogyakarta. At the core of the event, material was presented on “Customs is a Friend of MSMEs” and “Together with Customs, MSMEs can export.”
In the Q&A and Discussion session, several participants asked about some of the difficulties they faced when sending products abroad. Some of them admitted to having difficulties with taxes set by the recipient country. The taxes are sometimes more expensive than the profit they get. However, all of these concerns can be resolved and answered with new knowledge by Bea Cukai, “Every confusion you face, there must be a solution, just ask us.”
The event was closed with an MSME product bazaar, where each participant showed their MSME products. All potential products were there, starts from the categories of food, fashion, fabrics, drinks, and many more. All of them have the potential to export their products abroad. Bengok Craft is one of the participants who has successfully exported products to several countries abroad. Bengok Craft now has a lot of additional knowledge about export activities for MSMEs.
