Penetrating in Abroad with Uniqueness
The effort initiated by the 2014 FISIP UI Criminology alumni did not run as supposed to be. However, Firman Setyaji’s seriousness in using water hyacinth finally paid off.
Nowadays, his handicrafts are not merely sold in Indonesia but have been exported to foreign countries such as Japan, Singapore, Dubai, and Italy. The uniqueness of its handicraft products is the main attraction in foreign markets. Not only that, Firman sells products and the story behind them. Moreover, the price offered is quite affordable.

The average price offered is IDR 100 thousand. With the middle-class market segmentation who likes unique creations, the price, according to Firman is not too expensive, and it is still affordable. Like slippers, only Rp. 65 thousand.
“Market demand tends to rise, as can be seen from transactions and networks that are increasing along with,” he said. With an initial capital of only IDR 5 million, his capital turnover was almost 100 times or IDR 500 million within three years. In the first year Rp. 132 million, in the second year Rp. 122 million and in the third year Rp. 228 million.
In the future, Firman hopes that his business can continue to grow and accommodate more human resources. The hope is that Bengok Craft can become the leader of water hyacinth creations in Indonesia.
