Today’s students from modern Islamic boarding schools are not only required to study religion, but also have other practical skills such as entrepreneurship. This is what the students of the Al Iman Putri Islamic boarding school did on Monday, 27 February 2023. They are willing to come all the way from Ponorogo, East Java to develop their entrepreneurial skills through the Bengok Craft Workshop.

About 150 students arrived at Darungan Kesongo Culture in the morning at 8 AM at Daringan Kesongo Culture. The event was opened with remarks by the Co-Founder of Bengok Craft, Astaria Eka Santi. Then proceed with the presentation of material about the characteristics of water hyacinth along with simple and effective procedures for making handicrafts. Astaria explained that water hyacinth can be created into cute crafts such as bracelets and key chains very easily, it doesn’t take long, of course.

Astaria and the Bengok Craft team then divided into 3 teams, each team was caught creating bracelets, key chains, or pencil cases.

Astaria was really impressed with the students that they could create crafts very well. In fact, one group also directly created the three types of crafts.

Crafts created by students can of course be used as souvenirs to take home.

The Bengok Craft Workshop will certainly be an unforgettable experience for them. The students can learn how to build local businesses from materials that are easily available, such as optimizing the potential resources around them so that when they graduate, the students can have their own creativity. So that they are not only good at reciting the Al-Qur’an and being religious, but the students are also smart in terms of making money and developing a business.
