The group of women guided by PT PUSRI, one of the leading fertilizer companies in Indonesia willingly came from Palembang just because of the Bengok Craft Workshop. A total of 31 people came to Daringan Kesongo Culture on Thursday, 23 February 2023. As many as 21 of them will be directly involved with Bengok Craft. They are women who receive guidance from PT PUSRI Palembang who also happen to be craft activists in Palembang.

In contrast to the usual workshops, this workshop took longer so that the implementation of the workshop became more comprehensive.

The participants arrived at Daringan Kesongo Culture following the opening ceremony by the Founder and Co Founder of Bengok Craft, Firman Setyaji and Astaria Eka Santi. After that, a documentary video of Bengok Craft’s journey in building his business was also shown. The participants seemed enthusiastic in watching the video. The participants also received material related to the characteristics of water hyacinth and the steps for making water hyacinth crafts. They also had the opportunity to ask questions about water hyacinth.

The participants also had the opportunity to visit the beauty of the pening swamp filled with water hyacinth. They also really enjoy the calming scenery.

The participants also had the opportunity to make water hyacinth crafts. Unlike the usual water hyacinth workshops which were continued at Daringan Kesongo Culture, they were actually invited directly to the craftsmen who were empowered by Bengok Craft.

They learn directly in making crafts. The crafts they learn produce works in the form of bags, hats and slippers. Of course, they alternated coming from one craftsman to another because each of them had their own specialty.

Each participant is required to make one type of craft until finally, they can create it. They don’t think that their creations are very good and have a high selling value.

The crafts they have created also have the opportunity to be showcased at the Kesongo Fair which will be held today, 26 February 2023 at Daringan Kesongo Culture.

This Bengok Craft workshop program is certainly a pleasant experience for the group of women. Apart from studying, their creations can also be promoted at the Fair organized by Student Community Service (KKN) students from Universitas Prasetiya Mulya.
