SEMARANG – The Micro, Small and Medium Enterprises Cooperative Integrated Business Service Center (PLUT KUMKM) which has been re-branded is expected to raise productivity of young entrepreneurs to create innovative and sustainable businesses as the key to realizing The Future SMEs.

“NEW PLUT KUMKM is a one-stop-service for cooperatives, MSMEs and entrepreneurs that provides inclusive business assistance services and other empowerment in a comprehensive and integrated manner to increase productivity, added value, capacity and quality of work, competitiveness and recovery of cooperative businesses, SMEs and Entrepreneurs,” said the Sectretary of KemenKopUKM, Arif R Hakim when opening and giving directions at the PLUT KUMKM Region I Management Coordination Meeting, Friday (8/4/2022) in Semarang, Central Java Province.

Also present at the event, Chancellor of Universitas Negeri Semarang (UNNES) Prof. Dr. Fathur Rokhman, M.Hum, Deputy for Entrepreneurship at the Ministry of Cooperatives and Small and Medium Enterprises Siti Azizah, Head of the Ministry of Cooperative Technology and Information (KTI) Head of the Ministry of Cooperatives and Small and Medium Enterprises Budi Mustopo, Head of the Central Java Office of Cooperatives and SMEs, Ema Rochmawati and manager of 33 PLUTs region I (west).

On this occasion a memorandum of understanding was also signed between KemenKopUKM and Universitas Negeri Semarang (UNNES) regarding the development of cooperatives, MSMEs and Entrepreneurship, each of which was represented by SesKemenKopUKM Arif R Hakim and UNNES Chancellor Prof Dr Fathur Rochman M Hum.

SesKemenKopUKM Arif R Hakim explained, in order to realize the birth of productive young entrepreneurs, there are eight main services present at PLUT KUMKM, including the Consultation and Assistance Center, Center for Regional Superior Product Development, Business Registration and MSME Licensing. Furthermore, Increased Synergy with Strategic Partners, Packaging Houses, Marketplaces, Public Spaces, and PLUT Competitions.

Meanwhile, the strategy of the Ministry of Cooperatives and SMEs to increase the role of young entrepreneurs in aggregating local economic potential includes creating a conducive business ecosystem with the issuance of Presidential Decree No. 2/2022 on National Entrepreneurship which groups prospective entrepreneurs, novice entrepreneurs, and established entrepreneurs, the target is to increase the entrepreneurship ratio to 3.95 percent in 2024. There will also be assistance, business consulting and connecting with financing.

“To accelerate the realization of the target of increasing the entrepreneurship ratio, strategic, collaborative efforts are needed which are outlined in the form of cooperation and synergy with various policy stakeholders and stakeholders who have a focus on empowering and developing cooperatives, MSMEs and entrepreneurship. This includes State Universities. which we have just carried out. Collaboration with Semarang State University is expected to encourage the creation of young entrepreneurs and the creation of new jobs,” said Arif R Hakim.

Arif added, in 2020-2024 the government was given the mandate to grow new entrepreneurs approaching 9 million people or around 4 percent. To achieve this target, it is hoped that 500 thousand new entrepreneurs will grow every year, namely entrepreneurs who are productive and can create jobs. “We really hope for higher education support, where the the higher education is a source of potential entrepreneurs who, if nurtured from the start and after graduation, can become entrepreneurs. Especially in the last two years, many fresh graduates have been unable to reach their career due to limited job opportunities,” Arif added.
