INFO NASIONAL – The Ministry of National Development Planning/National Development Planning Agency (Bappenas) held Indonesia’s SDGs Action Awards 2022 to appreciate every real action in supporting sustainable development. This award event could be participated by certain ministries/agencies, provincial governments, civil society organizations, business owners, universities and/or research institutions, youth organizations, and the mass media.

The Minister of National Development Planning/Bappenas, Suharso Monoarfa, said this award is a form of government appreciation to parties who have shown their best performance in the form of concrete actions that have an impact in supporting the achievement of sustainable development targets.

“Hopefully the awarding for the first time for real actions on the SDGs will serve as a whip and a stimulant for all of us to jointly organize the SDGs,” said Suharso during the opening the “Kick off Opening of Indonesia’s SDGs Action Awards” online on Friday, 12 August 2022.

Suharso Monoarfa hoped that the Independence Month in August would show the struggle of the nation’s children to fulfill independence, especially in implementing sustainable development goals. “Less than ten years from the implementation of the SDGs with the targets that we have set together,” said Suharso. “We have to focus on achieving the target so that no one is left behind, thus that we recover faster and stronger.”

The goal of sustainable development, Suharso Monoarfa explained, does not only pay attention to economic growth, but also social, environmental, and proper governance, and emphasizes human rights. “We invite all parties to spread good practices and hope that this award will strengthen the participation of all parties to continue working together in a real way to achieve the SDGs targets,” he said.

The Deputy of Maritime Affairs and Natural Resources of the Ministry of National Development Planning/Bappenas who is also the Head of the Implementation Team for the Sustainable Development Goals (TPB/SDGs), Josaphat Rizal Primana said that participants -except the mass media, may register online on the official Bappenas website. “The jury’s assessment is based on commitment, qualitative performance, and quantitative performance or best practice,” he said.

Josaphat hopes that Indonesia’s SDGs Action Awards can be a means of learning and a place to share experiences with fellow participants or the community. “Now we have entered the “decade of action” which means ensuring the achievement of the 2030 sustainable development goals by the government and non-government,” he said.

To take part in this award event, participants must fill out data, questionnaires, and upload them online from 12 August to 11 September 2022. The elements of the assessment are innovation, participation, impact, and sustainability.

Participants would undergo verification and assessment stages one and two, then an interview. The highlight of Indonesia’s SDGs Action Awards would take place in December 2022. (*)
