The development of technology is currently growing very rapidly. This is where the era of digitalization appears. Currently, the digitalization era allows all stake holders to feel more helpful. For example in a non-cash payment system. By using various non-cash payment methods such as ShopeePay, Dana, Ovo, GoPay, LinkAja, BCA Mobile, and others.

Users no longer need to bother providing complicated cash when transacting with shops/tenants/merchant. However, the choice of various non-cash payment methods turned out to cause new concern. Stores/tenants/merchants must indirectly provide a payment method in the form of a scanned QR code or payment number for each e-money brand.

In response to this, the government launched an innovation, namely a centralized non-cash payment method, namely the Quick Response Code Indonesian Standard (QRIS), which is a National QR code standard to facilitate QR code payments in Indonesia, which was launched by Bank Indonesia and the Indonesian Payment System Association (ASPI) on 17 August 2019.

Moreover, it is now reported that QRIS has been launched to support payments in 4 other ASEAN countries, such as Thailand, Singapore, Malaysia, and the Philippines.

Of course, this launching is beneficial for many parties, such as Bengok Craft which is one of the SMEs from Semarang Regency that processes water hyacinth into various creative and innovative crafts. They often experience problems in receiving payments from customers.

“Sometimes it is very difficult for us to provide change for customers who use the cash method,” said Firman Setyaji as the owner of Bengok Craft when met on Sunday (09/25)

However, with the existence of centralized payments through QRIS, Firman finds it easy to receive transactions from his customers. “With the presence of QRIS, we as SMEs who accept transactions from customers are very facilitated because only scanning one QR code can directly pay through digital wallets with many channels,” Firman added.

Bengok Craft is one of the millions of SMEs that have used QRIS as a payment method. Bank Indonesia also targets that by 2023 as many as 45 million MSMEs will use QRIS.

The impact is also very extraordinary, besides being helped by MSMEs with easy transaction acceptance, it can also increase customer interest in shopping because everything becomes easy only with QRIS. Indeed, the hope in the future is that with the large number of QRIS users, our economy will also recover considering that it was previously affected by the COVID-19 outbreak.
