On August 30, 2022, the Indonesian Trade and Promotion Center (ITPC Osaka) held a business matching between buyers and several MSMEs, including Bengok Craft. Attended via zoom, the ITPC acts as a bridge between buyers who are interested in Indonesian products and MSMEs as business owners from various clusters such as food and beverages, crafts, fashion, and others.

As one of the buyers from Japan named Nomura Naofumi reported via Zoom (08/30), admitted that he was interested in the unique products/creations produced by Bengok Craft as its creations are made with natural materials, namely water hyacinth. He plans to sell the Bengok Craft in Japan.

Apparently, Nomura has been interested in Bengok Craft products since the Tsuruya In-Store Promotion Exhibition which was held on April 27 – May 1 2022 ago. In Store Promotion which was held in Tsuruya Department Store is a part of INDONESIA FAIR, an integrated promotion with a Business to Consumer (B2C) concept where producers can sell their products directly to consumers.  He believes that handicraft products have great potential in the Japanese market.

Therefore, this Business Matching was held as a reciprocal of In-Store Promotion. So that the exhibition is not just held and then finished without any results. Instead, they succeeded in attracting buyers to discuss directly with MSME owners.

“We have discussed with the ITPC and also the buyer, we have also sent our brochure in Japanese to make it easier for buyers to understand the products we offer,” said Firman as the owner of Bengok Craft.

This activity further confirms that Bengok Craft has great potential for export in the country of cherry blossoms. Therefore, further support is needed by related parties, including ITPCs and Indonesia Embassy in the country.
