Solopos.com, SOLO — SoloKeren agenda #2 with the theme of Technological Literacy Millennials, which was held at the UMS Edutorium, Solo, Sunday (26/6/2022) night, presented by the Secretary of the Deposit Insurance Corporation (LPS), Dimas Yuliharto.
On that occasion, Dimas invited the people of Solo City, especially the millennial generation, not to be afraid to save or save money in the bank. Because if there is a revocation of the bank’s business license, the customer’s deposit money will be replaced by the Deposit Insurance Corporation (LPS).
Dimas conveyed this when giving a speech at the SoloKeren #2 event, which was also attended by the Founder of Nano Tech Protection, Aris Munandar. There is also Taufiq Arifin from the UNS Fintech Center.
Meanwhile, the Minister of Tourism and Creative Economy (Kemenparekraf), Sandiaga Uno, conveyed his message via video recording. Dimas said LPS was present in Solo because it wanted to provide entertainment to the community.
LPS also wants to convey that saving in a bank is safe so that people don’t have to be afraid to save in a bank. “Saving in the bank is safe. So don’t be afraid because LPS is guaranteed. All depositors at banks in Indonesia,” said Dimas.
Dimas said LPS was included in the Financial System Stability Committee chaired by the Ministry of Finance. The team also comprises BI and OJK.
Furthermore, in the SoloKeren #2 event, Dimas detailed that OJK is in charge of supervising and closing banks and BI provides short-term loans to banks. Meanwhile, LPS returns customer money when a bank revokes its business license. With this system, customers don’t have to worry.
“So, trust the bank. If there is a bank whose license is revoked, you don’t have to run to the bank; wait for it to be paid by LPS,” he said.
Financial Digitization
Dimas stated that LPS supported SoloKeren #2 because it was only available in Solo, not anywhere else. On the other hand, Menparekraf Sandiaga Uno, through video recordings, acknowledged that the acceleration of digitization in the country has become increasingly real during the two-year Covid-19 pandemic.
One that feels significant is the digitalization of finance which also affects the transformation in the economic sector. For this reason, millennials, including those in Solo, as a technology literate generation, certainly have a central role in developing and improving the creative tourism sector.
“It is necessary to strengthen digital financial literacy among young people. Because millennials are the key to the nation’s future and are expected to contribute significantly to the Indonesian economy today,” he said.
The founder of Nano Tech Protection, Aris Munandar, shared his struggle to start a business when he was young. He failed several times when he first started his business. He has sold motorbikes that his parents gave him for business.
“Many things can be done to meet the needs, like starting a business while in college. When I was at the university, I had to sell a motorbike my parents gave me for my business, but it didn’t work. Until it happened twice. When you are young, do it,” he exclaimed.
