Kotabumi–No less than 35 participants took part in the handicraft skills training conducted by the Office of Cooperatives, Micro, Small and Medium Enterprises/MSMEs, and Industry in North Lampung Wednesday (8/6/2022).

“The participants from the training we are holding come from the Kotabumi area and its surroundings,” said Head of the North Lampung/Lampura Cooperative, MSME, and Industry Office, Dina Prawitarini, on the sidelines of the activity, Wednesday (8/6/2022).

According to Dina, the training was aimed at increasing the ability of the participants to use goods or objects that had been considered useless to become valuable items. Thus, it is hoped that there would be an increase in the income of the participants in the future.

“The training this time is to use water hyacinth plants which have been considered useless,” she explained.

Through this training, participants would be taught to make various handicrafts whose main ingredients were water hyacinth. The handicrafts introduced included sandals, wallets, hats, and bags. The goods are pretty salable if marketed properly.

“We brought in the trainers from Bengok Craft Semarang. They have been in this business for a long time,” she said.

Dina said that they will introduce handicrafts from this training through exhibitions. In addition, they will also help with marketing by contacting shops or modern markets around them so that they are willing to participate in marketing it.

“Hopefully, the handicrafts produced by the craftsmen could be sold in the market so that they can boost the economy of MSME businessmen in the future,” she explained.
