Hi Buddy Bengok, in the environmental world we often hear the terms Recycle and Upcycle. Even though they sound similar, they both have different meanings.
What are the differences?
“Recycle” is the process of reprocessing items that are no longer used in other products. Like processing used bottles into plastic flower crafts. The process is a bit more complicated than upcycling. Usually, recycling processing is done by collecting unused used goods, then they are destroyed/melted and then made into different products. Recycling or which means recycling is the process of reprocessing items that are no longer used in other products. Like processing used bottles into plastic flower crafts. The process is a bit more complicated than upcycling. Usually, recycling processing is done by collecting unused used goods, then they are destroyed/melted and then made into different products.
Meanwhile, Upcycle is the process of utilizing natural and non-natural goods which are then processed into new, more valuable products. Here, the upcycling process is simpler than recycling because it only relies on creativity. For example, water hyacinth which is only a weed is used as a more valuable craft. The process of using water hyacinth only needs to be dried and does not change the shape of the original material. Therefore, this process belongs to the Upcycle category.
Bengok Craft is a craft business that uses the upcycle technique in making its creations because it processes water hyacinth into crafts without shattering the water hyacinth.
